One of my favorite bloggers (for his profundity, for his humour, for his provocation of the UK establishment—secular and Christian—and for his anonymity… and maybe he isn’t even a he) is Archbishop Cranmer. Here he touches on the profundity of the Christian faith exemplified that first Maundy Thursday as Jesus the Lord of all Creation washed the feet of his disciples. Why? According to St John, because he didn’t suffer from an identity crisis: “Jesus knowing that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God,” did that most menial of tasks, washing the dusty road off the feet of his student followers. See here. The photo is of the now Emeritus Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.
